Hey, I'm Alexis! :)
I specialize in the students that "nothing else has worked for," and I guarantee that your experience with me will be different from anything you've tried thus far! I thoroughly enjoy getting to know each student and their family and am passionate about the empowering effects of high-quality education.
I have extensive experience with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, dysgraphia, severe anxiety, PDA, FASD, OCD, selective mutism, cerebral palsy, and ESL, which enables me to identify and meet each student's needs and support them as their needs evolve.
Students and families say I'm patient, helpful, warm, knowledgeable, intuitive, fun, and dedicated.
About Me
In my 12 years as an educator, I've worked with a range of learners of all ages and abilities.
I moved abroad in 2018 and worked in several schools in SE Asia before transitioning to private tutoring in late 2020. With a background in early childhood development, I bring a strong understanding of the neuroscience behind learning how to read and write and have real-life experience with overcoming the barriers students face. I'm certified in TEFL and multiple structured literacy approaches.
In my personal life, I enjoy traveling, swimming, baking, reading, doing jigsaw puzzles and word searches, learning new things, being outside, building community, and spending time with my 3 cats. I moved back to the PNW in mid-2024 and never take a view of the mountains for granted, though I miss the tropical heat!
